ATI (Amplifier Technologies, Inc.)

Debuts with AT6012, 720 Watts, 12-Channel,
Six-Zone Power Amplifier for Distributed Sound

Las Vegas, January 8, 2000—The widely acclaimed amplifier maker, ATI (Amplifier Technologies Incorporated), is introducing a new addition to its range of US designed and US built multi-channel power amplifiers. Designed specifically for distributed sound applications requiring high-power, the AT6012 offers unique features that enhance performance, sound quality and reliability.

The AT6012 is a fully-discrete, full-complementary twelve-channel power amplifier of true audiophile quality. The AT6012 is convection-cooled and doesn’t require noisy, dust-collecting fans. The AT6012 offers a rated power output of 60W/channel into 8 Ohms and 90W/channel into 4 Ohms, from 20Hz to 20kHz with no more than 0.03% THD with all channels driven simultaneously.

According to Mike Pontelle, VP of Sales & Marketing, performance attributes and features considered essential by ATI are:

·        Outstanding sound quality, the result of wide-bandwidth, low-distortion design.

·        Power to spare, from high-power, high-current components.

·        Premium component parts, selected for performance and reliability.

·        Rugged construction, with extra-heavy gauge steel chassis, stainless steel fasteners, and powder coated finishes.

·        Multi-channel configurations, to meet the specific needs of both audio and audio-for-video system design, particularly in custom installation.

·        Easy service, thanks to unique modular construction, backed with FedEx replacement of modules.

·        Unexcelled warranty, with full 7-year Limited Warranty that includes both parts and labor over the full term.

Emphasis on Design & Durability

The AT6012 utilizes remote volume controls that vary the gain for each zone and are compatible with control devices from Crestron®, Xantech® or any IR system. This eliminates the need for L-Pads or other similar devices that add distortion and reduced reliability.

The AT6012 employs a unique configuration that combines an ATI-designed and manufactured toroidal power transformer, over 163K total microFarads of filter capacitance, massive heat sinks and high-power amplifier on a DMCâ [Detachable Modular Component] chassis. Each amplifier module is protected by an Optic Protection Circuit that will activate in case of overloads or shorts and will automatically reset itself when the problem has been rectified. Installers especially will welcome the convenience this feature offers in complex whole-house systems. In the unlikely event that a module fails, it can be quickly disconnected and removed, and another as quickly installed.

The AT6012 features as standard equipment: Remote-Power-On that allows the user/installer to turn on the AT6012 remotely via a control console or preamplifier. The Remote-Power-On feature is activated via a high-current relay that is triggered by 5VDC to 24VDC.

Durability, Features and Great Sound Quality

Of course, durability, premium parts, useful features, and superior service only become elements of value if the basic performance goals for an amplifier are reached. Great sound quality is first and foremost in ATI’s performance parameters, and ATI has designed the AT6012 to deliver exceptional sound quality. The huge, efficient power supplies, the powerful, linear circuitry, and more-than-ample power all contribute to this quality. Each amplifier channel’s circuitry has been designed for wide bandwidth, with a power-bandwidth from 3Hz to 50kHz, and a frequency response flat within +0, -0.1dB from 20Hz to 20kHz. THD and SMPTE IM distortions are both 0.03% or less at rated output. Signal-to-noise ratio is 100dBA or better, and damping factor is a superb 400 or more with 8 Ohm load. Each channel presents an easy-to-drive 28k Ohm input impedance to the preamplifier or signal source.

The AT6012 measures 17”W by 7”H by 14”D in standard configuration and 19”W by 7”H by 14”D in Rack Panel configuration. Weight is 65 pounds. Standard or Rack-mount panels may be retrofitted for $95 each or selected at time of order at no additional charge.
